Health Informatics Laboratory

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Health Informatics Laboratory of the Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) was founded in 1996.

The premises of the laboratory include 2 rooms (computer laboratory and multimedia laboratory) and three (3) offices.

The classrooms contain 31 state-of-the-art PCs used for the computer laboratory courses of the undergraduate and postgraduate computer courses. During the hours free from classes, they are used by undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department for their assignments and research. The computer lab room includes a special space for the Servers, which is properly insulated and air-conditioned, and in which three (3) Servers of modern technology are located to support the labs. In the two rooms there are high resolution LED projectors and interactive whiteboards for use in the laboratory classes of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The supply of electronic equipment (PCs, projectors, interactive whiteboards) has been provided by a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which was completed in 2022.

Most of the basic infrastructure of the laboratory was developed with earlier external funding from competitive programmes of the Region, the Ministry of Education and the European Union.

The Health Informatics Laboratory is connected to the wired network of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, while there is access to the wireless network of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Eduroam.
