ELECTRONIC HEALTH AND ITS APPLICATIONS

The aim of the course "Electronic Health and its Applications" is to provide postgraduate students with relevant knowledge of technological developments in the field of Health and Electronic Health. More specifically, the categories of Information Systems in the Health sector and a description of applied systems will be taught, such as Mobile Health, Cloud Technologies and Big Data in the Health sector, Smart Card Technologies, Sensor Networks for Remote Monitoring and Telemetry, Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications in the health sector. After completing the course, the student should: • Distinguish the subject and scope of application of electronic health and mobile health (mHealth). • Compare applications/software used in electronic and mobile health and evaluate their functions and capabilities. • Describe the purposes, components, user categories, structure, functions and benefits of health information systems. • Explain the different architectures and development stages of health information systems. • Describe the purposes, evolution, contents, structure, technologies and benefits of electronic health records. • Explain the necessity and characteristics of usability and security in health information systems and electronic health records. • Describe the main characteristics of communication and terminology standards used in e-health. • Discover the official medical or nursing terms through the terminology standards used in e-health. • Compare the main characteristics, application/service categories and technologies in the evolution of the world wide web (Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web
